About

Our Story

As my wife and I traveled home to Nigeria several years ago, we began to learn that childhood friends and family members were dying due to a lack of simple over the counter medications that are commonly available in the U.S.A. We were heartbroken that such a simple thing should take the lives of friends and family.

After seeing all these things, my wife and I came back and began praying about how to relieve the suffering of our people. The Lord opened the door for us to talk to several medical people in our local church, and they agreed to start going with us to Nigeria. The LHM medical mission was born in 1989.

We reached out to our friends and church and received an outpouring of support. Pharmaceutical and medical supply companies were contacted to donate medications and medical supplies. Before long doctors, nurses, optometrists and lay missionaries from the church and other cities around the USA began teaming up with us, along with local workers and volunteers, to make the journey to Africa to bring healing medicines and medical treatment to the people in Nigeria.

While ministering to the people with medicine, I observed the need local pastors have for training and materials with which to serve the people. So I established Pastors Conferences, bringing speakers and conducting workshops designed to help equip and train local pastors on how to grow the people spiritually, knowing that strong leadership will have a positive impact on local communities.

As we helped the people of Nigeria, we realized that there is a great need for local medical clinics, schools, orphanages, widow residences, farms, and factories. Our hope and goal is to build a local medical clinic/hospital so that the rural communities can improve their health and enable them to provide basic needs for themselves.

The Organization

Living Hope Ministries (LHM) takes medical missions to rural communities in Nigeria. LHM is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

In 2008, we celebrated our 18th year of providing access to quality medical care and medicines to African men, women, and children, while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those we serve. During this time we established annual Pastor Conferences to provide Biblical training to young pastors in Nigeria with no access to a seminary or formal Biblical leadership training.

We also established Adopt-a-Child Program, with the goal of providing the children in rural Nigeria the opportunity to go to school and have at least one meal a day. The public school system in Nigeria requires parents to pay for education. As a result, a lot of kids don’t go to school because parents can’t afford it. English is the national language, but if a child does not go to school, the probability is low that it will ever be learned, thus stunting any chance of gainful employment as an adult outside of the rural village.
This past year, the leaders of one of the villages donated land to Living Hope Ministries for the purpose of building a permanent medical clinic. This collaborative effort with the villagers will result in providing continual access to medical care to over 3,000 community residents.
